Austin Blenden is the owner of Big Grass Beef and 5th generation on the McClaskey Ranch in eastern Kay county, Oklahoma. Austin started Big Grass Beef after many years of ranching when he saw an inability of grass fed producers to get a steady supply of grass finished cattle direct to the consumer. “Many farmers and ranchers were switching to grass fed cattle but we’re still producing them in the same conventional model of only having cattle ready to harvest once a year..” Austin points out, “ we have to be willing to ask ourselves the hard question of why we’re doing something a particular way..” Through regenerative practices such as rotational grazing of both warm and cool season forages Austin is able to produce grass finished cattle
